House System

Blue, Green, Red and Yellow are the colours that distinguish us and divide us into four houses but we are a part of our Alma Mater and are bound together with chords of love, loyalty and brotherhood. As we divide the students into four houses we try to inculcate values of cleanliness, discipline, neatness, punctuality and respect for each other.

Each house is given a duty of maintaining cleanliness, discipline, notice boards and writing the current affairs on the boards. The house in charge of cleanliness keeps regular checks in the classrooms, corridors and gives necessary suggestions to the classes if required. They create awareness by displaying charts and putting simple instructions in the corridors. In the classrooms, students segregate the waste based on paper, plastic, card board and at the end of the day deposit it in the waste collection room. The house in-charge of cleanliness also checks if students carry out segregation in a proper manner.

Discipline in-charge house appoints students as leaders who in turn help in maintaining the discipline of the school. After recess or before the end of classes for the day, the leaders make sure that the students move in an orderly manner.

Notice boards create awareness about the current events or the importance of the day. Students prepare charts on environmental topics like pollution, global warming, ill effects of tobacco, etc. and other topics like save the girl child, road safety, sports and display them . This activity teaches them responsibility and also creates awareness about various issues. Students also write riddles, general knowledge questions, mathematics puzzles and facts on the boards.

Houses take turns to write the daily news on the boards. As the news is to be written before the beginning of the classes for the day, it teaches students punctuality and keeps them in touch with the current affairs.

The teachers are kept in charge of houses and they guide the students in various inter house and school activities. Students are awarded marks for participating in various competitions and activities. Students are also given house marks in the class. These marks are computed every week on a Thursday and displayed on the board.

The captains, vice-captains, and leaders of the house have meetings with their house teachers regularly. They discuss the functioning, performance and problems faced by them and also take this as an opportunity to resolve any issues.

The student’s council meets once in a month to address and resolve any issues faced by the students, class or the council members. With the final compilation of marks for the entire year, the best house is awarded the rolling shield ’best house of the year’.
